What’s the difference between being "spiritual" & not knowing what spirit one is of; is "religious" now taboo?

Seems the definition of religion is not a bad thing:
Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world. – James 1:27.
So why are so many anxious to call themselves "spiritual" but not religious?
Because they would be ashmed to be associated with the dogma that you freely advertise

Religion and spirituality are two different things. You can be both, you can be one or the other, or you can be neither.
I’ve known a lot of very spiritual people who do not ascribe themselves to any particular religion.

it is my understanding that being "spiritual" is a lil dangerous, one must be very very sure which spiritual help they are actually communicating with, I don’t mind any titles i.e. religious, Christian, Bible thumper etc,whatever people wish to use in "their" understanding…some may have the wrong conception of these terms, but that is their perogative and judgment matters, not mine…sometimes it is in the "tone" they use, where you get a sense of how they really feel…Peace/Love & God Bless

If I worship Satan then I am a spiritualist. Christians are more than "spiritualists." Yes, the biblical definition of pure religion is not a bad thing, but who can attain that on their own? No one can. I may visit the fatherless(orphans) and widows, but what about keeping myself "spotless" from the world?
