My friend is getting married soon and I plan on gifting her for her bridal shower and wedding. I spent around 70 for her bridal gift. What should I give for the wedding. I am hoping to not spend as much for that gift. So that mean I want to avoid giving her cash or a gift card. Any ideas for affordable gifts?

I think a gift basket would be great. Pick a theme, like kitchen utensils, arrange them in a nice pitcher or a large bowl. Bathroom: soaps, washcloths, toothpaste, plunger, etc in a small trash can. Mostly, think of all the little things you forget about when you first move into your own place. Cleaning supplies, nails, spices! The personal touch will make it sweet, and the relief when they realize they don’t have to run out to wal-mart for that little extra for dinner will make a great memory.

This is also an idea I came up with on my own, thinking it would be really cute if someone did it for my own wedding gift. If the couple’s last name is also a brand name, buy a basket and fill it with those things. My soon to be name is Hines. So, we would get ketchup, mustard, nuts, Duncan Hines baked goods. Or you could do a similar thing with their first names.

Grandparents, what can we say about them. Well for starters, they’re your second parents. Who was it that you ran crying to when you broke your mom’s favorite china? It was Grandma! She loved you like you were her own little precious gift. She was always there when things got rough, and you needed advice. Now that you’re all grown up it’s time to return the favor and show her how much you appreciate her.

1. Open your senses; listen to conversations. She may be dropping hints on what she’d like this Christmas without realizing it. For example, “This coffee maker is making funny noises,” or “My friend Elizabeth told me about a new book that sounds great, but I don’t want to buy it until it’s out in paperback.”
2. Be resourceful and shop around. Does she have some sort of special hobby, like collecting vintage pottery? If so, try to get her what she’s missing in her collection.
3. Be creative; use your imagination. Year after year you send her a plain old Christmas card. Be artistic and make it personal by creating your own card. Or use family pictures or other memorabilia to create personalized gifts such as photo purses.
4. Be practical; don’t get her something useless. Treat her to movie passes, travel accessorys or indulge her in a manicure. Make sure to get her something that you know she use and appreciate.

Giving gifts to grandparents, or simply showing them you care, shouldn’t be done only during the holiday seasons. Show them you appreciate them the whole year round. If they live far away from you, a simple phone call would suffic. What really matters to them is the knowledge that their grandkids, and great grandkids remember and love them.

One day you’re going to be a grandparent too, wouldn’t you want you’re grandkids to do the same?

Maybe a GPS system, a pedometer to aid in her fitness quest, a citywide treasure hunt is always fun, or how about you just take her on the weekend adventure of her choice? Although, ladies have the prerogative to change their minds about what they like, those that love jewelry always love jewelry. Practical women want practical things. Romantic women will always hope for whatever looks and feels good. The adventurer in your life will forever be happy pushing the envelope. If it’s worked in the past, it will work again. Let me start this by answering the question “who is the easiest to buy for?” so we can eliminate this category. I believe children and kids are by far the easiest to buy for. It is safe to assume that all kids love toys and games. The vast array of new and interesting toys that come to the market each year makes this an easy task when it comes to Christmas shopping for children.

That brings me to the hardest group of people to buy for. I find that buying gifts for your “other half” and siblings are always the hardest. There is always the quest to find something cool, original or unusual so that he or she will be impressed by it. In this article, I would like to highlight some of my favorite gifts that fall into three very popular categories – “unusual and unique”, “fun and novelty gifts” and “useful and practical” presents.
